Reopening Huish Woods

Date: 15th Mar 2021 Author: Matt Norman
We are delighted to announce the reopening of Huish Woods Campsite. Subject to pre-opening safety check results, the woods will open for visitors from Tuesday 13th April.

We’d like to give you peace of mind that the wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our priority. In line with government advice, we’re taking measures to ensure the safety of everyone.

It has been far too quiet over the last year and we are all looking forward to seeing young people having fun, joining in with the adventure at the site.

Booking Open Spaces

From today, you can book to visit the campsite from Tuesday 13th April. Bookings for Scouts, Guides, School or Youth Groups should be made at least one week in advance through Online Scout Manager. Please make separate bookings for each group session that will be attending (which for Scouts at this time is max. 15 young people and 5 adults).

Due to the current circumstances, all bookings will be provisional until they are approved. You will receive an email notification when this has happened.

If you have any enquiries, please get in touch.

Activities

Due to guidance from The Scout Association, we are unable to run adventurous activities at Huish Woods for the time being. However, as soon as it is safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming Young People back to the site to take part in all of the exciting activities that Huish Woods has to offer. As soon as we have more information about when this will be, we will let you know!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
