The Woods Needs You!

Date: 1st May 2019 Author: Matt Ellett

The Active Support unit, at Huish woods have been highly visible for a number of years, by helping in the camp shop,  with car parking at big events or running activities, but there are wide-ranging opportunities to support the site which are not always so high profile. For instance, on Wednesday mornings some members spend a couple of hours helping with site maintenance – no two weeks are ever the same! Tasks are definitely not limited to Wednesdays and we would happily see anyone any day if they can spare time for pruning back hedges, repairing fences, painting & decorating, grass cutting, keeping pathway safe, etc., or with the more visible roles in the shop, parking, and running Activities. (Training will be available)

These are ideal roles for anyone who fancies spending some quality time in a lovely location! Please spread this around to anyone you know that has time on their hands!  Tea and coffee with biscuits will be available, which an opportunity to meet other members.

Please help us to support Scouting in Blackdown and at Huish Woods.

Please contact, via the Woods on 01823 480768 for more details, or to offer your help.

Nature and the outdoors are languages that can be learned. Once you identify a beech tree, tie a clove hitch or cook a simple meal over a fire that you’ve built yourself, you’ll never forget it.'
